Wrist MRI
Wrist MRI in Utah
Wrist pain can affect everything from your job to your favorite hobbies. A wrist MRI at TaylorMed MRI provides a closer look at the small but complex structures inside the wrist, making it easier for your provider to determine what is causing discomfort.
An MRI uses magnetic fields to create clear images of the bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and nerves in your wrist. Because it shows detail that X-rays often miss, it is one of the best ways to evaluate both new injuries and long-term wrist conditions.
At TaylorMed MRI you do not need a referral to schedule. A wrist MRI is available for $399 with simple, upfront pricing.

What to Expect During a Wrist MRI
Preparation
Before your exam, remove jewelry, watches, or other metal items. For your safety, you will be asked to change into scrubs provided by our facility. This helps make sure that no metal or metallic fibers, such as silver or copper found in some performance or wicking fabrics, interfere with the equipment or your procedure.
Procedure
You’ll lie on the MRI table while your arm is carefully positioned in a coil (camera) while laying on your stomach with your arm up over your head like superman.
Experience
The scan itself does not cause pain. You may notice tapping or humming sounds from the machine, but earplugs or headphones are provided to make the process more comfortable.
Duration
Most wrist MRIs are 20 minutes.
FAQs About Wrist MRI
A wrist MRI is a non-invasive imaging test that creates detailed pictures of the wrist joint, including the bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and surrounding tissues.
It can reveal conditions such as ligament tears, tendon injuries, cartilage loss, arthritis, fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, and ganglion cysts.
Your wrist will be positioned in the center of the machine while you lie on your stomach with your arm extended above your head in a “Superman” position. Your head will also be inside the scanner during the exam.
The MRI scan itself takes about 20 minutes. From check-in to completion, your total visit will be about 30 to 45 minutes.
