Brain MRI
Brain MRI in Utah
At TaylorMed MRI, we specialize in MRI imaging of the brain to help identify and evaluate a wide range of neurological concerns. Using advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology, this non-invasive imaging test creates detailed images of the soft tissues in the head, including the skull, orbits, brain stem, ventricles and pituitary gland.
This type of MRI exam is commonly ordered by a healthcare provider to investigate symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, pressure, sinus disease, or other neurological abnormalities. It’s also useful in detecting brain tumors, malformations, hydrocephalus, multiple sclerosis, TIA’s or strokes, atrophy, gray and white matter disease, and trauma related injuries.
A brain MRI at TaylorMed MRI can be performed for $399.

What to Expect During a Brain MRI
Preparation
You’ll be asked to remove any metal objects before the scan. For your safety, you will be asked to change into scrubs provided by our facility. This ensures that no metal or metallic fibers (such as silver or copper, which can be found in some performance or wicking fabrics) interfere with the equipment or your procedure.
Procedure
You’ll lie comfortably on a table that slides into the MRI scanner. A specialized coil (camera) will be placed over your head to capture detailed images as you move into the scanner.
Experience
The exam is painless, though you’ll hear some clicking noises from the machine. Earplugs or headphones are provided.
Duration
Most brain MRIs take about 30–45 minutes.
Frequently Asked Questions About Brain MRI
A brain MRI scan itself usually takes about 20 minutes, but you should plan to be in our office for around 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish.
Both MRI and CT scans are valuable, but MRI generally provides more detailed images of brain structures without radiation exposure. CT scans are faster and may be preferred in emergency situations, such as acute bleeding or trauma and sinusitis. Your doctor will decide which imaging method best fits your needs.
For a brain MRI, typically only your head and upper body enter the scanner. The rest of your body may remain outside, depending on your size and the MRI machine design.
