Cancer Screening MRI
Cancer Screening
MRI in Utah
Early detection can make a big difference, and an MRI can sometimes help identify problems before symptoms develop. At TaylorMed MRI, our cancer screening MRI provides limited imaging of the brain, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and spine. This screening can also detect signs of previous stroke, aneurysms, thyroid nodules or cysts, fatty liver, gallstones, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, hernias, and herniated discs.
Our comprehensive cancer screening evaluates your entire body for potential abnormalities and is designed for the early detection of abnormal growths or structural changes. The scan includes imaging of the brain, thyroid, and soft tissues of the neck; the lungs, liver, spleen, gallbladder, pancreas, adrenal glands, kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs in the pelvis; as well as the full spine. This screening is performed without contrast and is not intended for patients with known cancers (such as breast or prostate cancer), as those evaluations require contrast-enhanced imaging. Please note that joints and extremities are not included in this exam.
At TaylorMed MRI, there’s no referral required. You can schedule directly, and the flat rate is $999.

What to Expect During a Cancer Screening MRI
Preparation
Before your scan, you’ll need to remove all jewelry, belts, and any other metal objects. For your safety, you’ll be asked to wear scrubs supplied by our facility. This precaution helps prevent disruption from clothing that may include metallic fibers, such as silver or copper, which are sometimes used in performance or moisture-wicking materials.
Procedure
You’ll lie flat on the MRI table while the machine captures detailed images of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and spine. Our technologists will switch coils (cameras) throughout the procedure to obtain the best images for each region. You’ll also receive simple breathing instructions during parts of the exam.
Experience
The scan doesn’t cause pain. You’ll mostly notice the rhythmic tapping or buzzing sounds from the machine. Earplugs or headphones are provided.
Duration
A cancer screening MRI usually takes about 60 to 80 minutes, since multiple areas of the body are evaluated.
