Hip MRI
Hip MRI in Utah
When hip pain makes it hard to walk, bend, or even rest comfortably, an MRI scan can provide important answers. At TaylorMed MRI, our hip MRI exam gives a detailed look at the structures that keep your hip joint moving and stable.
This scan produces clear images of the bones, ligaments, cartilage, muscles, and tendons that surround the hip. Images are taken of the entire pelvis, which includes both hips for comparison, but special attention is given to the hip causing symptoms to provide your doctor with the clearest and most detailed information.
At TaylorMed MRI there’s no need for a referral. You can schedule directly, and a hip MRI is available for $399.

What to Expect During a Hip MRI
Preparation
You’ll be asked to remove metal objects like jewelry or belts. For your safety, you’ll be given scrubs to wear while in our facility. This precaution helps prevent interference from any metals or metallic fibers that may be present in everyday clothing, including silver or copper threads often used in performance or moisture-wicking materials.
Procedure
You’ll lie flat on the MRI table while your hip is carefully positioned using a coil (camera) that will be underneath and on top of you. Your hips will be in the center of the machine and your head might be out of the scanner depending on your height. Soft pads or cushions are used to keep you comfortable and reduce movement.
Experience
The exam is painless, but you’ll notice a tapping or buzzing sound during the scan. Headphones or earplugs are available to help you relax.
Duration
A hip MRI usually takes 20 minutes.
